Who are we?
Better with Water is an international solidarity association,
become one of the recognized actors in the local management of access to water in urban slums.
#waterislife
1 out of 3 people
will live in a slum by 2050
Improving the living conditions of these populations is a central challenge for the coming decades.
For better with water, this mission is part of a broader vision. Beyond managing access to water, we work towards urban integration, highlighting a running water service and the involvement of the entire community as key elements.
These initiatives play a fundamental role in improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations.

Ensure Access to Water
Ensure permanent access to a reliable domestic water service, firefighting and disaster risk reduction, hygiene training and
community empowerment, as well as developing other
essential community based services according to the
people’s needs and capacities.

Support Communities
Carry out systemic diagnostics on waste management and sanitation. Develop initiatives according to the context and the resources available, preferably with the support of communities and local authorities.

Mobilise Local Actors
Mobilise and involve all partners for the implementation of projects with a high social impact, which are over time economically viable and self-sufficient.
better with water :
15 years of action
Valérie Dumans and Philippe de Roux met in 2008 in the Philippines while working for the social program UPLiFT, initiated by the NGO Inter Aide
It was by sharing the lives of slum dwellers that they became aware of the daily reality of water, its poor quality, and its exorbitant price, trapping families even more in the vicious cycle of poverty
Sustainable Development Goals we address

an NGO
recognized internationally

A reference organization
The innovation and strength of BWW’s model have made it a leading organization, highlighted as a case study in several reports (Asian Development Bank, NGOs, Open Society, etc.) and at international events, such as Singapore International Water Week, to which BWW was invited.
The relevance of its actions has also been recognized by international awards, such as the Zayed Sustainability Prize, which was awarded to BWW during COP28 in December 2023.
